French bed and breakfast are small lodging establishments that offer for the same price overnight accommodation and breakfast.
They are private homes with no more than 5 bedrooms available for commercial use and they cannot admit more than 15 hosts.
Only some of them will offer meals. In this case, they are called “Table d’hôtes”.


The same rules apply to Auberges d’hôtes and hotels. Most of them are private homes with more than 5 bedrooms available for commercial use and they can admit more than 15 hosts.They all offer overnight accommodation, breakfast and evening meal.
